Government - Can we make everyone happy?
Introduction
A democratic government is a system of government where all of the eligible members of a state elect representatives who they believe will best represent their interest and needs. Politicians usually join a political party that shares the same morals, values, and ideals that are true to themselves. Government is responsible to the people who voted for them and are supposed to represent the wishes of the people.
Activity - Can we truly represent the needs of the people?

- Take out a piece of paper and describe in point form all of the characteristics of an ideal place you would like to live in.
- What would it be like?
- What would you hope or dream for?
- What would exist in this society?
- Each student will share at least one characteristic of their ideal place by posting to their block's padlet:
- Discussion
- Do you notice if there are any characteristics that are at odds with one another?
- What sorts of challenges will result for government.
